Read an Excerpt From Twin Shadow's Novel

In between touring and recording, Twin Shadow's George Lewis Jr. has found time to pen a novel. It's called The Night of the Silver Sun. In our recent interview, Lewis told us that the Twin Shadow video for "Five Seconds" is related to the story: "It's about a motorcycle gang in the future. The video is the prologue to the story, and it's about friendship, in a way; two black motorcyclists who are fighting the good fight."

Read an excerpt from The Night of the Silver Sun over at the website of Pitchfork.tv contributor Elliott Aronow. (More writing from Lewis can be found in Aronow's zine Our Show.)

We'd hate to spoil the plot, but here is a selection of choice quotes:

"...what looked like a lunar eclipse seemed to part the clouds and fill the sky with a brilliant display of color, an orgy of pastels and neons. A reveling burst of inexplicable sound echoed as the entire world swelled and seemed to pause. A quiet rain fell for a while, and a silence spread across the land...""They say that Georgie survived the flash encased in crystallized liquid that had leaked out of the heart of the moon, a new life frozen as if nature had kept him safe to rebuild the world.""When the Edwards family woke up to a re-terraformed, terrified Earth, the baby was still at the front of her mind even though thousands of years had passed.""My baby, my love, God has kept you wrapped in a diamond and now you will be my child.""I was born before the silver sun hit, but I can’t remember what it was like when the nights were just half the day and there were waves on the water. I can’t remember the moon."
